I guess it really depends on how you define cool...that Aston certainly fits the bill, but there are others.

This may well be the pinnacle of Aston Martin Design.

The new DB10 or whatever they are calling the car in Spectre, has crested and descending the other side of the hill. This Vanquish may mark the top.

I would buy this over an F12 Ferrari in a heartbeat, on design alone, even if it is slower. It is still faster than I will ever be, and more powerful than mere mortals can use... so it comes down to looks... and the Aston looks better.

Although in terms of cool modern cars... Cayman GT4, Lamborghini Huracan, and BAC Mono may be in the running, in categories other than a front-engined V12 Grand Touring Coupe.

2014-current Vanquish’s rear wing is flush with the rear fenders, and the air channel under the wing is submerged below the fender crest and belt line. Viewing the car from the front, the “wing” is not readily visible from some angles.

Huracan is more graceful than both Aventador’s jagged stealth-jet edges, and active intakes, also more graceful than the Gallardo it replaces, yet STILL is bold. It is more cohesive a design than Ferrari 488, and the front fascia aspect of McLaren 650, although I like pretty much everything other than the front of the McLaren, and don’t mind the 488 GTS so much... but Huracan, as a design, has fewer visual caveats. Possibly the best combination of both cleanliness and boldness, since the original clean-body Countach.

The LP580-2 visually is only differentiated by a different front fascia with different cooling ductwork, and a more effective rear diffuser to increase rear downforce and grip, to deal with the 580-2’s RWD, rather than the established 610-4’s AWD.

The 2-wheel-drive traction deficit is also why the RWD car is de-tuned to 580PS (~575hp), rather than 610PS (602hp). Obviously that is what the numbers in the designation mean, power output in metric horsepower, rather than bhp, and 2 or 4 wheel drive.

(I like the LP610-4 AWD car’s front fascia better, because it can be blacked out like the Novitec tuned pearl white car above, and mostly disappear.)

The white LP610-4 is tuned by Novitec, and the rear wing is a Novitec add-on, the wheels are not stock, lower pieces are re-colored in gunmetal gray, but appear to be stock shape. The red LP580-2 shows the new front and rear aero, a tweaked new wheel design, and otherwise, the aesthetics are pretty much unchanged.

I tried in earnest and can’t find a car that’s cooler than that one. Simply put... I can’t! I don’t think anyone here has either. They’ve found ones that are meaner, more fun, faster, more powerful and better at other things, but nothing this “cool”. It’s the epitome. It’s an Aston, it’s effortless, it’s classy, it’s mint fucking green! It’s the World’s Most Interesting Man of cars!

The closest thing I could find is this stupid truck and it’s not even the same kind of cool.

As the closest thing to another ‘58-’60 aesthete on this site, time for me to get an opinion on something. Right now I’m looking at what horn ring filler is correct for the ‘59, and apparently it’s supposed to look like this:

There’s a whole horn ring and cover for sale for like $160 right now. No me gusta. However, the best I can tell, the one from a ‘60 will also fit due to using the same ring, and it looks like this:

I’m leaning toward the ‘60, because there’s one for sale for $41 plus shipping. I just may have to make something to go on the back, because it’s clear... Rather than wait, since the ‘60 *does* look pretty snazzy. Maybe I could get the ‘59 in future? Who knows.
